Ionphase permanent anti-static additives are inherently dissipative polymers (IDPs) that can be added to plastics during compounds, extrusion or injection molding to help control static build up in plastics.
How do Permanent Anti-static Additives Work?
Permanent anti-static additives are also know as non-migrating additives as they bind to the polymer matrix and do not move or migrate through or out of the plastic. Permanent anti-stats are based on a co-continuous ion conductive polymer phase. Ions acting as charge carriers within the additive will dissipate the static by making the charges mobile. This can be measured as lowered resistivity of the material.
- Features
- Static dissipative : Dissipates charges before damage occurs, prevents risk of explosion and dust build up. No need for grounding
- Permanent : Maintains static dissipative properties throughout the life cycle of the product
- Non-migrating: No sticky or greasy surfaces, no contamination of material and packaged goods
- Humidity independant: Static dissipative properties are maintained in low relative humidity and specific industrial environments
- Highly consistent: Static dissipative properties are maintained and stable even in very thin layers, with no hot spots
- Natural colour: Transparent to white pellets, colourable according to specific needs
- Recyclable, reusable: Cost savings through yield improvement and environmentally friendly
- Heat stability: Enables use in a wide variety of engineering polymers
